Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Shelf collects and how it’s used. Shelf is a neighborhood marketplace for borrowing and lending household items.
What we collect
Name, email address, and neighborhood, provided when you create an account, plus a verified phone number, required before you can list or reserve an item. If you list an item, we collect details about that item. Reserving an item requires identity verification: your photo ID and selfie are submitted directly to Stripe Identity for review — we receive only the verification result, not the images themselves.
Phone numbers & SMS
If you provide a phone number, Firebase (Google’s verification service) sends a one-time code by SMS to confirm you have access to that number. We don’t share your phone number with other users or third parties for marketing. Message and data rates may apply.
Location search
When you search for a city or address (browsing, or filling out a listing’s location), that text is sent to LocationIQ, a third-party geocoding service, to look up matching places. We don’t send your account information along with it.
How we use your information
To operate the marketplace: showing your listings to neighbors, processing reservations and payments, sending booking confirmations and reminders, and keeping the platform trustworthy through identity and phone verification.
Your choices
You can update your information from your profile at any time. In the mobile app, you can delete your account directly from your profile; on the web, contact us to request account deletion.
